About us

The congregation in Groningen was founded in the first quarter of 1902 and held their meetings in various buildings, after which they acquired their own church building at Hofstaat 28 in 1957. The municipality of Groningen has approximately 180 adult baptized members and is part of 52 Adventist congregations spread throughout the country.

The Adventist church in Groningen wants to fulfill the mission from a biblical perspective: “The everlasting gospel for everyone!” (Revelation 14:6)

We want to help people find meaning in their existence, by giving them the space to get to know God in a safe environment in which people are there for each other and help each other. The municipality of Groningen wants to support people in their development to grow into a mature faith. We also help people discover what gifts and talents God has given them to serve the needs of this world. As contagious Christians, Seventh-day Adventists have both feet in this society. The municipality has expressed this objective as follows:

“Worship, follow and share Jesus and carry and serve each other!”

In addition to the weekly services on Saturday mornings, there is also the opportunity to participate in small groups and special events (see activities).

Our community pays a lot of attention to children and youth. They have tailored their own activities to the different age groups.
